Scalable Distributed Systems & High-Throughput Microservices
Systems that stay fast and standing when the load arrives — and fail in ways you've already planned for.
Scale breaks the assumptions that work at small size. The database that was instant becomes the bottleneck; the service that never failed now fails constantly because there are a thousand of it. Distributed systems are hard precisely because the failure modes are emergent — they appear only under real load.
I design for that reality from the start: throughput, consistency, and graceful failure as first-class concerns, not afterthoughts bolted on when the pager starts firing. The result is a system that stays fast under pressure and degrades predictably when something inevitably breaks.
- Distributed-system and microservices architecture
- High-throughput and low-latency system design
- Data consistency, partitioning, and sharding strategy
- Service decomposition and boundary design
- Message queues, streaming, and event-driven patterns
- Fault tolerance, backpressure, and graceful degradation
- Observability, tracing, and capacity planning
- Performance analysis and bottleneck elimination
I design around the real load profile and the real failure modes, choosing consistency and partitioning models deliberately rather than by default. Failure is planned for explicitly — backpressure, degradation, and recovery — so the system bends under stress instead of snapping.
Every engagement runs under a signed NDA and, where testing is involved, a Safe Harbor agreement. Legal and ethical, start to finish.
- A distributed-system architecture with consistency and scaling strategy
- A fault-tolerance and degradation design
- An observability and capacity-planning blueprint
Do we actually need microservices?+
Not always. Microservices solve specific scaling and organizational problems and create others. Part of the work is honestly deciding where service boundaries help and where a well-built monolith is the better call.
Can you fix an existing system that's buckling?+
Yes. Diagnosing bottlenecks and re-architecting hot paths in a system already under strain is core work, not just greenfield design.

Signed NDA and Safe Harbor on every engagement. Projects from five figures to nine. Discreet, relentless, done right.
I only do legal, ethical hacking — under a Safe Harbor contract and NDA.
